DYNOmite Data-Acquisition Computer displays
and records true unlimited Hp, torque, RPM,
elapsed time, etc. at up to 1,000 readings per second (per channel). It will
even automatically apply SAE correction factors for air temperature, barometric
pressure, and relative humidity.

More than acceleration Hp can be measured with DYNOmite absorption units,
because they utilize an actual strain gauge equipped torque transducer.
Measuring power under a controlled RPM load is vital for proper mapping of
engine management systems and guess-free emissions work. Avoid �dynos� that
simply spin the vehicle�s tires up against their roll�s inertia (�flywheel
resistance�) without having any ability to simultaneously control and measure
absorption load. Rather than measuring the torque, they derive it from the
acceleration (similar to extracting horsepower from drag-strip data). Such units
can not maintain a MPH or RPM setting, while also displaying true torque and Hp
� like a DYNOmite can!

Sustained Hp and top end require an absorption dynamometer (i.e. a DYNOmite system).
Unlike �acceleration spurt� inertial testing, these can load a vehicle
indefinitely.* The absorber allows running controlled RPM step or sweep Hp
tests. Everything is under computer control via the included Electronic Auto
Load.

Simulate driving conditions on your chassis dyno by letting DYNO-MAX and your PC take
control. DYNO-MAX features a �Road Load Simulation� mode that simulates vehicle
momentum, air drag, rolling friction, etc. Enter the vehicle�s weight and drag
data and then allow the software to monitor MPH vs. applied Hp, as it adjusts
the dyno�s road load accordingly. To the car�s driveline and operator, the feel
is like actually driving.

supermarket chain plans to introduce a payment system that uses biometric
fingerprint authentication to verify customers' identities. Under this system,
shoppers in checkout lines won't need to use cash, checks, debit cards or credit
cards. Instead, they can place their fingers on scanners that read fingerprints,
and once the device links to their bank or credit card accounts, they can buy

system is already used in cities around the United States, including Portland,
Ore., and Chicago, where one shopper says it has changed his life for the
better. Linc Thelen, a 37-year-old interior designer, says the fingerprint
system -- known commercially as Pay By Touch -- is convenient to use and
expedites his way through grocery lines at Jewel-Osco, where he shops. Thelen
says the system lets people leave their wallets behind, so they don't have to
worry about being robbed or losing their credit cards."I had no reservation,"
Thelen said in a phone interview. "It's a safe way to store information."But no
system is 100 percent foolproof.Despite the fact that armed men guard the
computers that store the customers' virtual fingerprints, despite the fact that
Bank of America's former security chief now heads Pay By Touch's security
division, and despite the fact that Pay By Touch hires people to try to expose
vulnerabilities in its computer system (so those vulnerabilities can be
eliminated), Pay By Touch President John Morris acknowledges that "it's not
impossible" for computer hackers to figure out how to tamper with its
information.And therein lies one of the 21st century's most vexing problems:
More and more of our personal data are captured and stored by corporate and
government interests, and are potentially available to anyone with the
technological, legal or financial means to access that information.Whether it's
phone calls we make, library books we check out, CDs we buy on the Internet or
divorces we finalize in court, we leave a trail of information that becomes
susceptible to prying eyes. For the price of a bus pass, you can pay a company
to supply anyone's address, phone number, political affiliation, estimated
income and property history. For $20 more, you can find out if that person is
married or divorced, has a criminal record, and what sort of jobs he or she has
worked.Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., says she will introduce a "privacy bill of
rights" because identity theft and security failures of personal records have
become "one of the most important issues facing us as individuals and as a
nation."The availability of personal information -- downloadable onto laptop
computers, which are increasingly being fitted with fingerprint technology -- is
changing the culture in ways that may seem trivial but are really benchmarks for
a new society already in its formative stages.A small example: Unbeknownst to
the men who date her, Judy runs background checks on all of them, using a
private investigator to dig out any "red flags" that would presage troubling
behavior. A businesswoman in Southern California, Judy, 50, uses a company
called DateSmart, whose client base has boomed in the past five years as more
people confront the perils of online dating."I'm glad the information is out
there," says Judy, who did not want her last name used because of concerns her
suitors would read this article. "The men I'm talking to online are complete
strangers. And I have absolutely no knowledge of their character other than what
they're saying in their profiles. I need to feel comfortable knowing that
they're not an ax murderer. The people you meet might be well dressed, but you
never know if they have any criminal history. It's for (my) safety."Background
checks are nothing new. What's changed are the speed with which you can obtain
them, their relatively small price (some companies advertise free checks) and
their growing public acceptance. The information revolution has transformed the
background check into a common and casual tool, and those being scrutinized
probably don't have a clue. More obvious are the security cameras embedded in
nearly every major American city, including New York, Milwaukee, Chicago,
Atlanta, Los Angeles and, yes, San Francisco, where lenses record people's
activities in such crime-ridden neighborhoods as Bayview-Hunters Point and the
Western Addition. The spread of these cameras is championed by authorities, who
say it reduces criminal activity, and criticized by the ACLU, which says the
equipment is an unnecessary intrusion into public spaces.Civil liberties groups
have joined the widespread outcry against the government's monitoring of
Americans' phone-call records. Two weeks ago in federal court, the ACLU
challenged the legal rationale behind the National Security Agency program,
arguing that the NSA's actions -- involving "data mining" of records provided by
AT&T and other telephone companies -- violate Americans' rights to free
speech and privacy as guaranteed under the First and Fourth Amendments. Last
week, privacy experts raised questions about the U.S. government's monitoring of
international bank transfers -- previously secret data surveillance officials
say is justified by the fight against terrorism.Americans' rights to privacy
will be tested even more in the next few years as biometric technology creeps
increasingly into everyday arenas. For example, on the campus of UC San Diego,
biometric experts are testing a soda machine that uses both fingerprint and
face-recognition technology. The machine is in a lounge for grad students in UC
San Diego's computer science building."The students are very excited about
getting it working," Serge Belongie, a UC San Diego associate professor of
computer science, says in a phone interview. "People think it's very cool. ...
No one uses money. They have accounts. What would be fun is if (the machine)
recognizes you and says, 'Would you like your usual?' "If UC San Diego students
are reluctant to use the machine, their privacy concerns are outweighed by
convenience -- a sentiment echoed in survey after survey on biometric
technology. In March, Unisys Corp. released a report on public perception of
"identity management" that said convenience and efficiency were the two biggest
reasons consumers would use biometric technology. (The most preferred biometric
methods are fingerprints and voice recognition, according to the survey. The
least preferred, because of its perceived intrusiveness, is an iris or eye
scan.)Two of the biggest turnoffs for those who shun biometric technology:
suspicion of how the technology works and loss of privacy. Among respondents
from North America, just 56 percent said they'd be willing to share their
fingerprint with a government organization such as a post office or tax
authority. Among respondents from the Asia-Pacific region, 71 percent said
they'd share their fingerprint with the government."As consumer confidence grows
in the large-scale usage of (biometric technology) and standards are more
generally comfortably adopted, you're going to see a pretty rapid migration" to
it, says Mark Cohn, Unisys vice president for homeland security solutions.Cohn,
a principal architect of the Department of Homeland Security's US-VISIT Exit
system, which uses fingerprint technology to run background checks on visa
applicants and verify their entry to and arrival from the United States, says
Malaysia offers a preview of how the United States may change in the coming
years.Since 2001, the Malay government has issued a biometric "multipurpose
card" to Malaysians 12 years and older. The card, which features a thumbprint
and photograph, acts as a passport, driver's license, ATM card, toll and parking
pass, and medical record that lists blood type and any allergies.The card is
convenient to use -- but it's a nightmare for Malaysians who lose it or have it
stolen. Crime syndicates in Malaysia have altered cards with different
photographs and used them to give members new identities, though the Malay
government insists these identity thieves can't access the original cardholders'
personal information. Special chip technology and other password features
prevent this, they say. Also, the cardholder's fingerprint -- rather than being
visible on the card -- is encrypted in the card itself: To reveal the
fingerprint, the card must be inserted into a special biometric device that
compares the encrypted print with that of the person claiming to be the
cardholder.For anyone who has read Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four," where
"telescreens" keep track of people's lives, this new biometric technology will
seem like fiction come to life. It's showing up everywhere. By the end of this
year, U.S. passport agencies hope to issue "electronic passports" with computer
chips that have digital photos of the holders. With the help of face-recognition
machines, airport security can compare a photo with the face of the passport
holder. For two years, an American corporation, VeriChip, has sold
government-approved electronic chips that are inserted under people's skin to
give doctors instant access to patients' medical histories.In 2008, as mandated
by the Real ID Act, states plan to issue driver's licenses linked to a database
that includes each license holder's photo and Social Security number. These
licenses (civil liberties groups call them national identity cards) will likely
include a biometric photo of the driver accessible by authorities.In the
meantime, banks are considering using iris scans and even palm scans at ATMs in
an effort to cut down on fraud. (In 1999, Bank United in Texas adopted iris-scan
technology at three of its ATMs in a test that was discontinued when Washington
Mutual took over the bank.)Some people love the new technology. Others shun
it.Pay By Touch admits it has encountered some resistance among shoppers it
approached in supermarkets that already use the company's fingerprint service.
But Morris, its president, says many of these customers are quickly won over by
the convenience of Pay By Touch, which is free for consumers, and that the
company keeps data points based on users' fingerprints, not actual fingerprints.
So far, supermarkets in 40 states use the Pay By Touch system.Pay By Touch,
which is based in San Francisco, wouldn't say which Bay Area supermarket chain
will start using its fingerprint system in the next four months -- only that the
chain will use the system in just a handful of its Bay Area stores. Pay By Touch
users sign up voluntarily and are under no obligation to use it at the checkout
line.Pay By Touch says it takes great care to safeguard its users' data. After
fingerprints are converted into algorithms, they're encrypted, then stored in
IBM computers. Those algorithms can't be reconverted into an exact copy of the
fingerprint, though Pay By Touch may eventually store users' actual fingerprints
if the technology improves, Morris says. The company insists it will never sell
users' personal information or fingerprints to anyone else -- a pledge that's
backed up in writing when users sign up with the company. But what if federal
authorities, citing national security, insist on the finger scan and payment
history of a Pay By Touch user?Pam Dixon, who heads the World Privacy Forum, a
public research group, went to Chicago to warn potential Pay By Touch users
about possible dangers."It didn't stick," she says. "People were (more)
concerned with (convenience than) the potential risks. People can put their
thumb on a pad and be done with it. But meanwhile, their biometric data is
sitting with another company, a third party, that's subject to subpoena. One
argument that I made: Let's say that every supermarket in the country,
particularly the large chains, (use) a biometric payment system. It's a law
enforcement dream because who needs a biometric database run by the U.S.
government when you've got one being run by private companies?"Citing the recent
disclosure by the Veterans Administration, which said a computer with credit
information on millions of veterans had been stolen, Dixon says, "The second
issue is information security. If the VA can't keep its records secure, which is
a government agency that has all sorts of strict controls that are supposed to
be in place, how on Earth can a private company without the resources of
something like the VA manage to keep something secure? When we have a credit
card stolen, we can call the credit card company and say, 'Give me a new
number.' But you can't do that with your biometric. You can't say, 'Give me a
new fingerprint.' "Morris dismisses such concerns, saying that Pay By Touch will
actually decrease the likelihood that consumers' credit information is stolen or
misappropriated. "I think (Pay By Touch users) get pretty rapidly that it's the
ultimate way to secure their private data," he says. "It connects (their
accounts) to something that's uniquely them, as opposed to handing a credit card
over to a stranger or writing a personal check that seven or eight humans touch
before it gets in their statement. Securing information by a biometric is a
giant leap forward. (Users) like that they don't have to pull their card out
anymore. They (tell us they) like that they don't have to carry their (purses or
wallets) through the parking lot of an urban supermarket. There's a physical
security benefit. Their numbers are never displayed. The safety of securing
their data is the No. 1 thing they like."The marketplace will determine whether
the public is ready to accept commercial fingerprint identification. Investors
in Pay By Touch believe that day is here, capitalizing the company with $190
million in the past 12 months. More than 2.5 million shoppers already use the
Pay By Touch system. Morris envisions a day when all stores -- even mom-and-pop
ones -- offer a Pay By Touch option.Soon, customers will be able to use Pay By
Touch from home with the help of fingerprint readers attached to their
computers. In ancient China, rulers would put their fingerprints on documents to
give them an official seal. Artists would also mark their work with prints. It
wasn't until the late 1800s that authorities realized they could use
fingerprints to catch criminals. Their evolution as a way to pay for groceries
is a 21st century twist fueled by technology. It's also a trade-off between
privacy and convenience. Welcome to the brave new world in Aisle 5.

Forex Jargon

Barrier options: A type of “exotic” option that comes into existence or ceases to exist once a certain price is reached. They are often added to a “vanilla” or typical option to make the premium less expensive. For example, a 1.4000 EUR/USD call purchased when spot is at 1.3500 would be cheaper if there were a “knockout” embedded in the option, for example at 1.3300. If 1.3300 trades before the expiration of the options, the whole structure would be “knocked out” and the seller of the option would be able to pocket the entire premium.

Bid: A buy order placed at or below the market.

Corporates: The treasury departments of large multinational corporations. They are responsible for hedging the forex exposures of their firms, which can have dramatic impacts on earnings for firms with large overseas sales. For example, a company like Airbus has massive revenues in dollars but has most of its cost base in euros. They must hedge their currency exposures to try and offset this mis-match.

Custody bank: A bank which holds securities in custody for other financial institutions, does their bookkeeping and settles their trading activity. Examples include Bank of New York Mellon, State Street and Northern Trust Co.

Delta The ratio comparing the change in the price of the underlying asset to the corresponding change in the price of a derivative. Sometimes referred to as the “hedge ratio”. Thanks to Investopia.com

Fixing: A preset time of day when bids and offers are aggregated and cleared at a published price. Popular fixings are the “ECB fix” at 12:15 GMT and the London fixing at 16:00 GMT. Fixings are used primarily by asset managers. They have a fiduciary responsibility to get their clients the best possible execution and the thinking is the fixing price is the most transparent of the day. The benchmark price is published by the WM Company.

Gamma Concepts in the options markets are expressed in terms of the Greek alphabet. Gamma refers to the rate of change in an option’s delta relative to the price of the underlying asset. A short gamma position will become shorter as the price of the underlying asset increases. As the market rallies, you are effectively selling more and more of the underlying asset as the delta becomes more negative.

Model fund: Hedge fund which uses some form of quantitative model to initiate and liquidate trades. The most familiar type of funds are trend-followers like J.W. Henry and Co. Many of these funds trade at set times during the day, often at 10 am New York time.

Offer: A sell order places at or above the market price.

Prime brokers: Firms which allow clients like hedge funds to use their credit facilities to access financial markets. For example, a hedge fund client of Bank X can trade in the interbank FX market using Bank X’s name in return for a fee.

Stop-loss: An order which closes out a market position once a certain price level trades in the market. For example, a sell order placed below the market price to protect against accelerating losses.

Sovereign wealth fund (SWF): A fund set up by a country with large foreign exchange reserves to help manage those reserves. Typically SWFs purchase long-term securities to try and enhance investment returns beyond what central banks typically earn holding government debt. Examples include the Government of Singapore Investment Company and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

Sovereign names: Used interchangeably for sovereign wealth funds or central banks.

Real money; Nick name for “end users” of foreign exchange, who trade to pay for transactions or liquidate proceeds from transactions in other markets like equities, fixed income and commodities. We typically use real money as shorthand for institutional asset managers like pension funds, mutual funds and endowments.

Petroleum Technology Transfer Council

The Petroleum Technology Transfer
Council (PTTC) is an American national not-for-profit organization established
in 1994 by producers, state organizations and the Department of Energy (DOE).
While emphasizing the needs of independent oil and gas producers, PTTC’s
activities also benefit industry consultants, service and supply companies, and
other industry participants. To ensure timeliness and relevance of technical
workshops and other activities, PTTC’s regional programs are developed under the
guidance of local Producer Advisory Groups. Through these volunteers and the
National Board of Directors, who are primarily domestic oil and natural gas
operators, hundreds of producers and other industry participants nationwide
contribute their time and expertise to the technology transfer program.
PTTC
is involved with foster networking people, who impact domestic
production.
Oil and Gas Producers rely upon the network for non-biased,
straight forward technical information;
Provides Technology providers with an
avenue to communicate developing or under-applied technologies to producers,
consultants, and explorationists;
Consultants better equip themselves for
serving producers, which further broadens application; and
The DOE uses the
network to disseminate its R&D results and gather insights on domestic
concerns and issues.
The relationships that are developed between the various
entities and individuals have achieved technology information transfer through
the PTTC’s programs and are reducing costs, while increasing profits, and
ultimately increasing recovery in existing mature fields, expanding recovery
from unconventional reservoirs, profitably developing ever-smaller domestic
production and reserves, and increasing environmental stewardships.
Since
1994, the PTTC was funded primarily by the DOE with matching funds by the states
and Oil and Gas industry. The PTTC's work has been a recognized force for
transferring exploration and production technology to domestic U.S. producers.
In 2006, the U.S. Congress declined to provide fiscal year 2007 funding for many
elements of the DOE’s natural gas and oil R&D program, from which PTTC drew
its federal funds. DOE ultimately provided $1 million of funding through
September 2008 to help PTTC transition to a primarily industry-funded
organization.
Due these evets, the Executive Committee of AAPG and the Board
of PTTC both voted in late September for AAPG to assume management of the new
organization. The American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Petroleum
Technology Transfer Council have announced that AAPG has assumed management of
PTTC activities effective October 9, 2007.This includes fundraising, marketing
and corporate operation of the PTTC Program. The vote followed a 90-day due
diligence period. AAPG President Will Green, of Midland, Texas, said “PTTC has
perhaps the most successful scientific technology transfer program for the
independent U.S. producer and has proven its value to the industry. The
Association considers the program important for the industry, the members of
AAPG and the country.” Outgoing PTTC Chairman Gene Ames noted: “Strengths of
PTTC will be the same – most universities will stay engaged, regional volunteer
groups will be autonomous and work closely with the universities,
cross-discipline diversity will be encouraged, and producers will comprise the
majority of the volunteers. DOE remains a strong supporter and will strive
toward some funding albeit at a lower level than historical.” Members of the new
board of directors will be announced later. Green said PTTC’s primary tool for
transferring E&P technology will continue to be regional workshops, which
will be supplemented with a strong Web presence, newsletters and other personal
outreach. Using these tools, PTTC will continue to connect producers, the
service sector, consultants, researchers and others with the data and technology
information needed to spur technology application.

activities have covered the full spectrum of E&P operations, including
exploration, unconventional resources, enhanced recovery processes, imaging
technology, drilling and completion, hydraulic fracturing and many others.
Serving industry locally through Regional Lead Organizations, typically at
universities or geological surveys, PTTC’s primary focus has been serving
independents. This operation model will continue in the future.

Keeping track of the damage

Keeping track of the damageSilica (silicon dioxide)
is the most abundant mineral in the earth's crust and consequently is a core
component in many rocks. It's quite common for such rocks to also contain
natural traces of materials like uranium that undergo slow radioactive decay.
This radioactivity produces energetic particles that smash through the
surrounding silica creating tracks of localized damage in their wake.The tracks
are too small to see directly but because the damage changes the local structure
of the material, such tracks serve as a seed point for certain chemical etches.
Suitably etched samples show tiny cone shaped pits in the surface that are
visible in a powerful light microscope. Geologists have used this etch pit
technique for many years to study the density of tracks. Their interest stems
from the fact that knowing the number of tracks in a material and the amount of
radioactive material present, you can gain information about the age and thermal
history of the rocks. High temperature anneals out the damage so a rock with
high uranium content and few pits must have been heated in the relatively recent
past.However, it's not just geologists that have an interest in the interaction
of energetic ions with solids. An improved knowledge of such interactions is
also pivotal to emerging technologies such as nanofabrication, nuclear waste
management, fusion power and long distance space travel. The problem to date has
been that remarkably little is known about such ion track damage in solids. The
traditional etching technique reveals the number of tracks but removes the
tracks themselves, so tells you little about the underlying material
science.This lack of detailed information has created debates and arguments
amongst scientists for more than 50 years. However, a research team from The
Australian National University led by ARC Australian Research Fellow Dr. Patrick
Kluth has recently solved the mystery, by using x-ray beams from the U.S.
Department of Energy’s Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory.Dr.
Kluth explains, "The exact nature of ion track damage has been very difficult to
determine because the tracks are only a few tens of atoms in diameter with often
only subtle differences in structure to the surrounding material. A lot of times
we are getting localized disorder in a material that is itself highly
disordered."To generate the ion tracks in a controlled manner, the researchers
have used Australia's largest and most powerful accelerator, the 14UD at ANU
where they bombarded amorphous silica targets with very energetic gold ions.The
world of subatomic particle interactions is very different to our experience of
collisions in everyday life. If you're throwing rocks at a tin can the
likelihood of you scoring a hit depends on your aim and the size of the can. So
long as you aim doesn't falter the likelihood of scoring a hit doesn't change
with the speed of the rock. However in the microscopic domain, this common sense
no longer holds. The velocity and thus energy of subatomic particles has a large
bearing on the likelihood of them hitting each other. This counter intuitive
situation arises because the particles aren't really colliding like two solid
objects; rather it's their wave functions that are interacting. And wave
functions are diffused through local space and time. To keep things convenient,
scientists still express the likelihood of two particles colliding in terms of a
collision cross section. Bigger cross-section, better chance. The only tricky
thing is that this collision cross section changes as the particle energy
changes. It's like your tin can getting smaller as the rocks get faster.For this
reason, ions of different energy interact with different components of the
target material. Very energetic ions from either natural radioactive decay or
the powerful accelerator are very unlikely to collide with the nuclei in the
target, as the collision cross section for this interaction is essentially zero
at these velocities. This means that the ion loses energy by interaction with
the electrons of the host material, not the atoms. The result is a sudden and
massive local heating along the ion's trajectory by several thousand degrees.
This causes a violent expansion of the silicon dioxide reducing the density
along the core of the track and compressing the material in the surrounding
cylinder. The area is so localized that the subsequent cooling down is almost
instantaneous, preventing the material from returning to its original structure.
The net result is a tunnel shaped shock wave frozen in time.The big breakthrough
came with design of high-resolution x-ray scattering experiments to study the
structure in the ion tracks. The tracks in the silicon dioxide are amorphous,
meaning the crystal lattice structure has no long-range order. However the
target silicon dioxide also has an amorphous structure. "It's very hard to see
tracks of new disorder in an already disordered material." Dr. Kluth explains,
"the new measurements, however, enable us to resolve the small density changes
in the ion tracks which has not been possible by other means before. We are now
confident that we can apply this method to resolve the structure of ion tracks
in wide variety of other materials as well."A crucial aspect for the
measurements is that the accelerator-irradiated material differs from naturally
occurring silica in one very important way. All the ions from the accelerator
were travelling in exactly the same direction when they created tracks. This
means that all the damage tracks are parallel. This is vitally important because
it makes x-ray analysis viable. To obtain a suitable bright monochromatic x-ray
source, the scientists travelled to Chicago to use the ChemMatCARS 15-ID
beamline at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Photon Source synchrotron
at Argonne National Laboratory.In a natural sample with tracks at random angles,
a beam of x-rays is scattered in a different direction by each track resulting
in a blurring of the scattering signal. However when the tracks are all parallel
each one scatters x-rays in the same direction reinforcing the signal. "What we
see in a case like this is a clean superimposition of the signals from each
track.""Apart from solving a long-standing mystery in materials science, these
findings have significant potential impact for interplanetary science. In space,
equipment is exposed to very high energy cosmic radiation and the response of
materials to that is important in designing reliable electric

Biosensor Tools was created by Dr. David Myszka to provide contract
services and training in the application of SPR-based biosensors. SPR biosensors
are used to measure the affinity and kinetics of biomolecular interactions in
real time without labeling. This dynamic information about binding is key to
understanding complex formation and characterizing structure/function

Saç dökülmesiyle mücadele etmek için veya bu durumu geciktirmek için yapabileceğimiz şeyler şunlardır. Saç oluşumunda en önemli elementlerin başında çinko geliyor. Kürünü uygulamak gerekir
Değerli okuyucu, havucun bu özelliğinden istifade edebilmeniz için onun kürünü yapmak gerekir. Yemeklerinizde veya salatanızda tercihli olarak kullanacağınız havuç bir beslenme şeklidir. Eğer onun tedavi veya önleyici gücünden faydalanmak istiyorsanız, mutlaka kürünü uygulamanız gerekir. Havuç, özellikle deri ve akciğer kanserine karşı mükemmel bir önleyicidir. Prostat, pankreas veya meme kanserine karşı bu önleyici gücü yok denecek azdır. Bir bitkinin kansere karşı önleyici gücünden bahsediliyor ise, mutlaka hangi kanser türüne karşı etkili olduğu sorulmalı ve öğrenilmelidir.
Havucun en çok neye yaradığını kime sorarsanız sorun, hemen gözlere iyi geldiği cevabını alırsınız. Benim yapmış olduğum araştırmalara göre gözlerimiz için havuçtan çok daha faydalı ve güçlü olan sebze domatestir. Havuç bol miktarda A vitamini içerdiğinden dolayı gözler için faydalıdır. Ancak burada bilmemiz gereken nokta A vitamininin yağda çözünen bir vitamin olmasıdır. Havuç suyunu doğrudan içtiğimiz taktirde içerdiği A vitamininden tam anlamıyla istifade edemeyiz.
İçerdiği A vitaminini büyük bir oranda vücudumuza kazandırmak istiyorsak, bu taktirde bir bardak havuç suyunun içerisine iki-üç damla sıvı yağ damlatmamız gerekir. Damlatılan bu sıvı yağ havucun içerdiği A vitamininin çok daha büyük oranda vücudumuz tarafından emilmesini sağlayacaktır. Avrupa’nın bazı şehirlerinde taze meyve suyu satan dükkânlarda havuç suyu sipariş ettiğiniz zaman, “birkaç damla sıvı yağ damlatalım mı?”diye sorarlar.
GÜNÜN KÜRÜ
Taze olarak tüketilmeli
Üç ay boyunca her gün, akşam yemeğinden iki saat sonra taze sıkılmış bir bardak havuç suyu içilir. Üç ay tamamlandıktan sonra haftada en fazla 2-3 defa yine akşam yemeklerinden iki saat sonra bir bardak havuç suyu içmeyi alışkanlık haline getirmek gerekir. Havuç suyunu içtikten sonra üzerine başka bir şey tüketmemeye özen gösterilmelidir. Her gün akşam taze olarak hazırlanması ve fazla bekletilmeden tüketilmesi gerekir.
Bu uygulama aynı zamanda akciğer, deri kanserine ve de kalp krizine karşı da bir önleyicidir. Günün kürü ile havucun bütün özelliklerinden istifade ediyorsunuz demektir. Piyasada satılan hazır havuç suları bu amaç için kullanıldığı taktirde başarı oranı yüzde 70 oranında azalabilmektedir. Bu nedenle havuç suyunu kendiniz mutfağınızda taze olarak hazırlarsanız çok daha başarılı sonuç alırsınız.
BİLİYOR MUYDUNUZ?
Havuç kürü, insan vücudunda bulunan OGG1 (8-OxoGuanine DNA Glycosylase) enzimini aktive etme özelliğine sahiptir. OGG1 enziminin aktivitesinin düşüklüğü, akciğer kanserinin oluşumunda oldukça etkilidir. Akciğer kanserine yakalanmış hastalarda OGG1 enziminin aktivitesinin düşük olduğu gözlenmiştir. Yapılan klinik deneyler OGG1 enziminin aktivitesinin düşük olması durumunda, akciğer kanserine yakalanma riskinin on misli artış gösterdiğini ortaya koymuştur. Taze sıkılmış havuç suyu kürü, OGG1 enziminin aktivitesini yükselterek, bu kanser türüne karşı güçlü bir önleyici özellik göstermektedir. Bu özellik aynı zamanda keçiboynuzu (harnup) küründe de bulunmaktadır.
Mide yanmasına karşı etkili
Havuçta bulunan alpha-phellandrene, cinnamic acid maddeleri güçlü bir laxative özelliğe sahip olduğundan, bağırsak sisteminin sağlıklı çalışmasında oldukça etkilidir. Taze sıkılmış havuç suyu bununla da kalmayıp, bağırsaklarda oluşan ve bağırsak kanserine yol açabilen nitrozamini, nötralize edebilen zararsız hale dönüştüren (antinitrosaminic) etkin maddelere sahiptir. Havuç suyunun önemli bir özelliği yemek borusu ve mide yanmasına karşı olan gücüdür. Eğer mevsiminden dolayı veya herhangi bir nedenle havuç bulunamıyorsa, sadece ve sadece iki yudum olarak içilecek olan soğuk sütün, yemek borusu ve mide yanmasına karşı nasıl etkili olduğunu içtikten 3-4 dakika sonra hissedeceklerdir.
